    Madhya Pradesh: HRLN succeeds in obtaining compensation for Dalit man attacked with acid

    The petition was filed before the High Court of MP seeking interim relief of financial assistance for the petitioner, who lost vision in the left eye due to an acid attack.

    The petitioner Nandlal is a Dalit man who was attacked with acid. After the attack, he was admitted to M.Y. Hospital the same day and was diagnosed with 44% burns all over his body including on face, hair, arms, chest, legs, neck, back and his eyes, so much so that he lost vision in his left eye. Since his treatment was not being done properly in M.Y. Hospital, his lawyer approached Bombay Hospital for treatment. On the basis of her application, Nandlal was admitted to Bombay Hospital.

    The petition sought compensation and free medical treatment in a private hospital for Nandlal. Subsequently, he received Rs 1.5 lakhs as compensation. Through an order dated May 15, 2018, he was further awarded an additional Rs 1 lakh.
