The State Government decided to develop the SCB Medical College and Hospital and for that reason eviction of slums near the SCB Medical College and Hospital was initiated. The State Government and the Cuttack Municipal Corporation resettled the Slum Dwellers amount to 2000 families on the outskirts of Cuttack City at Nimpur on a 15X15 plot and a cash component of Rs.50,000/-. But the place where they have been resettled the government has not provided any civil amenities like waste and sewage water disposal, toilet in each household, electricity, Anganwadi Centre, safe drinking water, street lights, transportation among others. The displaced families are facing great hardships. A PIL has been filed seeking basic amenities and habitat be provided and developed by the State in the High Court. The High Court has issued a Notice and fixed it for 20.05.2021 for a hearing of the matter.
