Titagarh Association for Human Rights Awareness vs State of West Bengal and others WP No 6349 of 2013; A PIL was filed on behalf of the villagers of Village Kurulgachcha, North 24 Parganas, who were the victims of exploitation by the Panchayat for years. It was alleged by the aggrieved villagers that whenever any relief or employment schemes such as the National Rural Employment Scheme were offered by the Government, they were employed under this scheme. However the monetary benefits and wages were misappropriated by the Panchayat Pradhan and the other members of the Panchayat for their personal benefit.
