PIL on dismal implementation of public health and maternity schemes in Rajasthan

Suman Devathiya Vs State of Rajasthan [D.B. Civil Writ Petition No. 2529/2016] Hon’ble High Court of Rajasthan at Jaipur bench Jaipur. Synopsis A report published in various local newspapers in Jaipur exposed that three ladies at a maternity hospital were provided one bed, left unexamined, and had to deliver their babies outside the maternity hospital. Then, their newly born babies provided one bed for all of them and the doctor misbehaved with them along with providing incorrect blood reports. The report also exposed how the state government had failed to implement the JSSK & JSSY schemes. A public interest litigation (PIL), substantiated by 2 fact finding mission, was filed to ensure proper implementation of various maternity and public health schemes.
