Rights of the marginalised in Gujarat

As India attempts to contain the Covid-19 pandemic, the marginalised received the hardest hit from the novel virus. In the days leading up to 24th March 2020 the nation along with the world was still learning about the coronavirus and social distancing was deemed paramount. While the national lockdown, a necessary step, had a disproportionate effect on millions.

In this regard, a Petition was moved on 27th March 2020 in the Honourable High Court of Gujarat to ensure food security, transit accommodation, access to water and sanitation, access to health services, access to correct information to the vulnerable, i.e., daily wage workers, domestic workers, manual scavenging workers, street vendors, homeless individuals, women, children, Transpersons, Sex worker and their families.
