Supreme Court Directs Dna Test To Determine Parentage Of A Child

Akbar at the age of six years got separated from his father in market and parents could not find him. Three year thereafter, the parents came to know from T.V. coverage about the presence of their child with a tea vendor. In a habeas corpus petition, Hon'ble Allahabad High Court allowed the child to be retained by the tea vendor. Parents have now approached Supreme Court in Special Criminal Leave Petition No. 2664 of 2008 against the judgment of Hon'ble Allahabad High Court. Vide its order-dated 09.08.2010, Ho'ble Supreme Court has now ordered for a DNA test in order to determine the parentage of the said child.
