[caption id="attachment_12927" align="alignnone" width="125"] Gayatri Singh[/caption] Senior Advocate, Bombay High Court Ms. Gayatri Singh is a Senior Advocate at the Bombay High Court at Mumbai, India. She studied B.Sc. under a scholarship at Wharton School, Philadelphia and then went on to pursue her LL.B. from Government Law College at Mumbai. She was enrolled in the Bar in 1984 and has practiced in the Labour Courts, Industrial Tribunal, Family Courts, CAT, MAT, NGT and has been practicing at the Bombay High Court for the past 15 years. Gayatri is part of a national network of lawyers and legal activists providing legal aid, legal education to the poor and marginalized, working with various organisations in framing policies and suggesting changes to laws. An active member of the forum against oppression of women she has been key in suggesting amendments to rape law as well as amendments to law relating to sexual violence against women. She has been representing a number of organisations in Maharashtra inter alia working amongst persons with disability, women, children, under trials, rural poor, scheduled castes and scheduled tribes, migrant and unorganized workers at the Bombay High Court on various matters. With a yearning to see more and more young lawyers work in the area of human rights and activism, she has collaborated with various institutions, in particular Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), in training students and delivering lectures to law students.
