Public Education in Mumbai: Rhetoric or Rights? - Report of the Indian People’s Tribunal on Environment and Human Rights

The Indian People's Tribunal for Environment and Human Rights' in conjunction with organizing groups from Mumbai created a four-member Tribunal, headed by Justice H. Suresh (Retd.), to inquire into the status of children's right to elementary education in Mumbai. This Tribunal was primarily concluded by means of a public hearing in Mumbai on 1 and 2 July 2006. The intention was to provide a platform for members of the public as well as government officials, including' persons from the education department, to share their experience with municipal schools in Mumbai.
