Struggle for Dignity

Date: 01/12/2007

Document: Read the full book here.

Edited By Baghambar Pattanaik.
This is the story about a struggle undertaken by members of Orissa’s barbers’ community. During a solidarity visit to four villages in Puri district in early 2007, we were taken aback by the endurance and determination of the barber community. ‘They had resolved to lead the life of dignity in the midst of forced poverty and squalor. Members of this community joined the Odisha Goti Mukti Andolan in the wake of six-year-long social and economic boycott.
