Gender Justice in India

Law and Social Movements in south Asia was organised by Socio-Legal Information Centre which was held at Jawaharlal Nehru University ,Convention Centre dated from 16th Aug 2013 to 20th Aug 2013 besides India legal Experts were called from Pakistan, Nepal , Sri Lanka & Afghanistan as well as the human rights Institutions were also Called. The Workshop was attended by Lawyers, human rights Activists, Professor and Students. In the Third Session Prof of JNU Anuradha Chenoy Spoke on the Gender Justice in India and how to improve the status of the women in the society the need of the hour is that laws should be enacted but they should be backed by strong public willingness and public opinion because so long as conservative social thinking remain deep rooted in the society laws will not be able to achieve their ends. It must be asserted that social reforms is in social thinking, behaviour and law would be effective only if they are backed by major section of the society And others on various issues such as Justice Verma Committee Report, Reproductive Rights, Disability Rights & Health Rights, Criminal Justice, Violence and Discrimination against minorities and use of the Law Right to Food in South Asia So as to Understand better the law and Social Movements of South Asia
